Cucamelon

🍉🌱 How to Grow Cucamelons – A Mini Melon Adventure for Kids!

Cucamelons are tiny fruits that look like baby watermelons but taste like zippy little cucumbers. You can grow them up a wigwam, in a pot, or even make a melon cave! Let’s go! 🚀

🧺 What You’ll Need:

  • Cucamelon seeds (look online or at a garden centre)

  • Small pots or seed trays

  • Compost or seed soil

  • Bigger pots or garden space for planting later

  • Bamboo canes or string for climbing

  • Watering can or spray

  • A sunny, warm spot (greenhouse or warm windowsill to start)

📅 When to Sow

  • Indoors: Late March to April (they love warmth!)

  • Plant outside: Late May to June, after all frost is gone

🌱 Planting Time!

🏠 Step 1: Start Indoors (like a baby plant nursery)

  1. Fill a small pot with compost.

  2. Make a little hole about 1cm deep.

  3. Drop in one cucamelon seed, cover with soil, and water gently.

  4. Put the pot somewhere warm and sunny (like a sunny windowsill).

  5. Keep the soil slightly damp, not soggy.

🎉 Seeds take about 1–3 weeks to sprout — be patient!

🌞 Moving Outside

🪴 When the seedlings are about 10cm tall and it's warm outside (late May–June):

  1. Choose a sunny, sheltered spot.

  2. Plant them in big pots or in the garden.

  3. Give them canes or string to climb — cucamelons love to climb like mini jungle explorers! 🧗
